The average rate on a 30 year loan has jumped from 5% to more than 5.3% in just the past week. More would-be home buyers could be priced out of the market, a threat to the fragile economic recovery. There may be some panic among potential buyers who have not found houses yet, but for some sellers, rising interest rates may be producing more urgency for buyers to buy and lock-in.
